On Wednesdays I don't have to be at work until 9:30, so I was watching the Today show this morning. They were having Martha Stewart give a recipe for homemade egg nog and dear lord did she load it down with liquor. I guess a few months in jail without the sauce made her get a little wild for the sauce.
Katie and Matt watched with their eyes wide open as she dumped 4 cups each of four different types of alcohol into her homemade egg nog and she even said that is was great for entertaining, just serve this to anyone over the age of 18 as they come in for the party and they will be having a great time.....NO SHIT, they would be drunk off their asses after 1 glass, and she even seemed to encourage that. A few moments later she realized what she said about the drinking age and corrected herself.
The funny part was when Anne and Al tried her egg nog and nearly spit it out because of all the alcohol. Al even said, please do not drink this near an open flame.
I think the jailbird may be off her rocker just a little and if I was a betting man I would say she had already had a few glasses before the show, she just kept rambling on and on and they had to keep interupting her. I guess you had to see it, but it was funny.

Thank God that Martha has the guts to add the booze and not be all PC and make a lesser recipe. It wasn't four cups of each booze, it was three of bourbon, half a cup of dark rum, and two of cognac, which is less than half what you posted. And this is filling a humongo punch bowl to feed 26 people. The three pussies who host the Today Show probably freak out at the prospect of downing a light beer, so of course Martha's egg nog made them blanche. Every time someone is on the show making a dish that has over 10 calories, Couric practically has a diabetic seizure just looking at it. Her reaction completely belies her control-freak/anal/borderline eating disorder nature, which is her prerogative, but I wouldn't mind getting my recipe without the snide remarks (those are for me to hurl at the TV each morning). Can't we all use a little extra something in the egg nog just to survive the day and evening at the in-laws? It was funny to see how out of touch Martha was with something as simple as the drinking age. Ah to be one of the isolated rich, hopped up on egg nog. Can't wait to try her recipe! I just don't get why they had to give her crap for the booze.
Obviously CPT has never really tasted a genuinely made egg nog in his life. I usually use 750ml bottle of VSOP Cognac in my egg nog. With the other ingredients the alcholic content is severly reduced. In addition, it is not supposed to be drunk like schnapps. He should try Martha's recipe and then make his comment. dcaloy
Came across this post whilst looking for the recipe for Martha's eggnog. I figure if it was too strong for the Today Show Hosts it was probably just right for my family get-together... we all need a little help around the holidays. AT any rate I am still looking for the recipe if anyone has it.
i watched that show too.That was not egg nog for first timers.that was a helluva lot of liquor.Ithought she was going to set it on fire .........that would have been the kicker. Well iquor. can intensify your personality ,so why not eat,drink,be merry and make an ass out of yourself. your co-workers will let you know what you got fired for the next day
